  • Turns out Hiruko Ubusuna was just the second to do necromancy. The first one was Nakahara, Joe Musashi's former teacher. Nakahara as the Masked Ninja had access to not just Joe's Ninjutsu, but also the ability to summon otherworldly beings and manipulate the corpses of dead ninja, hence the yellow skeletal zombies in the original Shinobi game.

Musashi and Hibana have many interesting dynamics with each other. Both were originally expected to be the weakest ninja in the bunch, but both wowed the Oboro clan with their skills as once a century geniuses due to their tenacity and hard work, which earned them additional and advanced Ninjutsu training under Jonin (Jimushi and Nakahara). Both of their masters abandoned the Oboro to do their own thing, and what ironically gave Joe and Hibana the edge against them was the Oboro-ryu Ninja Arts that Jimushi and Nakahara taught them.

  • Okay here's what i have on the Oboro Chief from Revenge of Shinobi. "The leader of the Oboro-ryu Ninja, the chief is an elderly master of the arts of Ninjutsu. Having found Joe Musashi as a young orphan, he took the lonely boy into his home and trained him, raising Musashi like a son alongside his daughter Naoko. After entrusting the most of his training to Nakahara, the chief trained Joe in Advanced Oboro Shinobi Arts in his adolescence. After Zeed began kidnapping children from the shinobi village, the Chief sent Joe to dispatch them and rescue the children. While Joe was away after a successful mission against Zeed, the chief learned from one of his agents that Neo Zeed had been formed, and became a super-syndicate. He tried to prepare the village, but the threat was too much leaving him gravely wounded. With his final breath, he told Musashi about Neo Zeed, and gave to him the information on Neo Zeed's bases of operations and where Naoko was being held. After Musashi avenges his murder and the deaths of his comrades, Joe succeeds him as the new leader of the Oboro-ryu ninja."

  • I found a SegaRetro and looked up Shinobi. and found that Joe's sword is one of two blades. The other is called Oborokage; Misty Shadow. And i think that it is the Tachi that Jiro uses, since Jiro's sword is larger than a normal katana and is not a Shinobigatana in any conventional way.

  • While touched upon to a degree, nobody has gone into details on the Oboro School that Joe Musashi and all the Oboro characters trained in. So i set up an Oboro School Page. Still needs some fine tuning though. can i count on ya?

    • Okay, the Oboro clan is a branch of the famous Iga ninja The Oboro Village is home to the Oboro School of Ninjutsu, hence why they are called the Oboro-ryu Ninja founded by the Oboro family; it was common practice naming a Ninjutsu school after a place you started it in or the family to which it originates. (i.e Koka-Ryu, Iga Ryu, Kishu,) Since before the Era of War, the Oboro served the Japanese Imperial family, fighting against conflict and the evils that sought to profit from them (Zeed being a primary example). While some parts of the Oboro clan are decided traditionally down to the next heir, the most skillful ninja is chosen to lead the Ninja clan while the surviving eldest and most powerful ninja in the Oboro clan's Main Household was chosen to lead as headmaster of the Oboro family

The article is a stub, and I was merely trying to add more information. The information has to do with makimono in general. Because the makimono is an elemnet of Japanese culture, it stands to reason that the underlying concept should be explained. Additionally, there's not a lot of supplementary information about these items, so I don't think it hurts to explain what they are.
That's fine, but most of it should be in the about column. If you want something on Makimono and Ninjutsu, then i can help with that.

Feel free to collect more information. I'd also be interested in reading straight from the source, so I'd appreciate it if you could link me directly to any sources you find.

      Thanks for your help.
