Oboro-Kage; the Hazy Shadow (in Japanese: 太刀「朧影」;Longsword "Hazy Shadow) is the sword used by Jiro Musashi and is the sibling sword to Joe Musashi's chokuto styled shinobigatana Oborozuki the Hazy-Moon and a is also a Meito status weapon.

Oborokage is a Tachi-type sword, a relatively new style of Nihonto in contrast to the Oborozuki's chokuto style blade given its era of creation. It has a square handguard, unlike most Tachi, engraved with images of a moon shadowed by clouds and a tsuka of black and red coloring. It is also engraved with what appears to be Kamiyo Moji; an ancient Japanese font commonly used in shrines to determine a thing of sacred status or act as an invocation, and a wooden sheath made from what could commonly be guessed as a cypress tree.

Whenever it is used with great skill, the blade shines brightly.

History[]

The Oboro-Kage was crafted centuries ago during the early stages of the Kamakura Era by a blacksmith of the Oboro Village, home to the Oboro-ryu shinobi. Crafted as a weapon of the clan leader, its true power is displayed when wielded with great skill. In the master's hands, the blade shines like the moonlight halo of a hazy moon on the spring night, and was given the name Oboro-Kage; Misty Shadow to accompany its older sibling Meito (in Japanese: 名刀 excellently crafted sword), Oborozuki which was forged during the Heian Era's final stages.

In the Eighth year of Kencho, the sword was taken up by the young Oboro village chief, Jiro Musashi, who was the youngest and most skilled elite shinobi in the clan. Jiro would use this blade in service to the Koshitsu (in Japanese: 皇室 the Imperial Family), and with this blade he brought great honor to his Oboro clan brethren. After being hurled through eras due to an attack on his village, Jiro would use this blade to avenge the destruction of his clan and would continue to use it until the Oboro is restored and hopes to entrust its power to a suitable heir.
